Welcome to our Tuberculosis (TB) Program at Daraja Mbili Vision Volunteers.
We are dedicated to accelerating the reduction of TB, leprosy, and lung disease burden in our community. Our aim is to provide people-centered, universally accessible, acceptable, and affordable quality services to those affected by TB.
As a partner in the Global Fund TB project, implemented under Amref as the principal recipient, we have been actively involved in TB treatment, case finding, and support activities for over 5 years across all nine sub-counties in Kisii County.
Our TB program focuses on the following key areas:
Strengthening Community Health Workers: We work closely with trained community health workers who serve as the primary point of contact with the beneficiaries. They play a crucial role in supporting TB clients, conducting contact tracing, and providing necessary follow-up services.
Collaboration with Ministry of Health: We collaborate with the Ministry of Health staff to ensure effective coordination and implementation of TB prevention, diagnosis, and treatment services. Together, we work towards streamlining and improving contact tracing of clients.
Contact Tracing: We prioritize contact tracing to identify and screen individuals who may have been exposed to TB. Through home visits and community outreach, we visit households of index clients to screen household members and ensure early detection and appropriate treatment.
Partnership and Capacity Building: We engage in partnerships with various stakeholders, including health facilities, to strengthen the capacity of healthcare providers in TB management, diagnosis, and treatment. This collaboration allows us to expand our reach and deliver comprehensive services
Through our efforts, we have made significant progress in the fight against TB. To date, we have visited over 2,300 homesteads of index clients and screened over 6,000 household members, making a tangible impact on TB control in Kisii County.
At Daraja Mbili Vision Volunteers, we remain committed to combatting TB and improving the health and well-being of individuals and communities affected by this disease. Together with our partners, we strive to provide accessible and quality TB services, support ongoing research and innovation, and contribute to the national and global efforts to eliminate TB.
